Will any 1155 boards support 2 x 16 mode for Crossfire/SLI

Wondering if I should wait for Sandy Bridge if I want to run Crossfire/SLI, or should I get a current 1366 board? I don't want to run 2 x 8 speed.

Also, when is 1366 being replaced like the 1156 is now?

Thanks

On one monitor at 1920x1200 or lower resolution there's nearly nothing noticeable. At 2560x1600 there's a small benchmark noticed difference. Unless you're doing three monitor 1920 or 2560 resolution gaming using the highest end cards, you're almost certainly not going to notice a difference.

Yeah, I think there's several 1366 boards with x16/x16, but I'm wondering if any Sandy Bridge boards will also support x16/x16

I may be wrong, but from what I understand the 1155 socket will be able to support 16 lanes, but for some odd reason it will not be able to support true dual x16/x16 video setups, in dual video it will most likely be x8/x8.

Now with the new Socket 2011 platform we should see the first full support of PCI Express 3 with 32 lanes, and also we may see quad channel memory.

It may not be a limitation of the technology, but rather a limitation of the physical grid array and number of copper traces needed to complete the task.

Wrong my babies. The Asus Maximinus Extortion IV will only run x16 with one or three cards. Dual cards will make it run x8/x8 while triple will force it into a x16/x16/x8 mode.

Why they did this, nobody has the slightest idea.

this mobo was never revised after the issue with the northbridge about the 6.0 Gb/s ports; rev 1.0 is the only one available.
