I have a MSI MS7778 (Jasmine R) motherboard. I currently have 8 gbs of ram and was planning to upgrade at some point, but I ran into a question. Will any ddr3 ram work on a ddr3 motherboard?
You want to get a 4x8 kit (sold together), not just 4 individual 8GB sticks. It looks like the 32GB kits aren't manufactured by PNY or Black Diamond anymore, but CMS do a lot of custom solutions for this kind of stuff. This kit will probably work:
No, there is compatible DDR3 RAM and there will be incompatible DDR3 RAM. Memory manufacturers also don't guarantee mixing your old 8 gbs of ram will be compatible with any extra new memory you add. Since the old memory has never been tested with the new memory there are no guarantees it will work or how it will work if you manage to get the PC to boot up.
Calvin7's right, don't mix kits. There are also more variables than I was thinking of before.. laptop vs. desktop, single vs. double.. again, stick to the list.

So if I wanted 32 gbs (which my mother board does support, then I should buy 4 of the same exact 8 gb sticks?
