Will any SSD fit into my laptop? If so......

I want to know what SSD is better suited to my laptop. I used the online Crucial scanner but it only recommends me crucial ssds.

I was looking at the Crucial M550 but I was wondering if there is something better for me.
(Speed, technology,)

--I have an older ssd and I would just like to upgrade.

Yes - any SSD should fit just fine. The Crucial SSDs are pretty good, as are the Samsung 840 EVOs (as well as the 850 EVOs, if those are out yet..)

I have no idea. How do I find that out. My laptop came with the current SSD so I have never opened it up.

What is your current SSD, do you know? Brand/model #? That would help in looking up its size.
