Will Asus b350 gaming f work with ryzen 2 out of the box?

I find a combo offer on newegg that have ryzen 2600x and this motherboard with 16 gb ddr4 ram
I heard some motherboards need to be updated via an older am4 cpu before putting ryzen 2. I don't have one and we don't have amd support to provide a boot kit where I live. New egg say it doesn't guarantee combo compatibility.

Hard to say, if that board came off the assembly line before ryzen 2 released then it likely wont have a compatible bios at stock. It would need to have bios 3203 or newer and there is no way to tell if it does before buying it. If it does come with an older bios there is no way to flash a newer bios with a ryzen 2 cpu, you would need ryzen 1 to even get into the BIOS. So you would be taking a risk getting that board, I would get a B450 or X470 which will be compatible with ryzen 2 out of the box.

If the box has a sticker on it stating "Ryzen 2000 Ready" it will work with any R2K processor at least well enough to burn the latest BIOS and get full functionality.

Surely Newegg would work with you to at least confirm the sticker's on the box.

A big box store might send someone in back to check their inventory for something like this. In a store warehouse, this it nigh impossible. If there was no way I could easily get my hands on a first gen Ryzen CPU, I'd pass on this deal.

Says right here it's supported. I used the 2600x on my Asrock AB350 and have no problems so far. Always just look up the support page for your mobo for hardware support.

And 100% update your bios to the latest before installing!

Of course, always check the CPU Support List. The question isn't whether or not it's supported. The question is will it require a BIOS update in order to get it working. Since the OP cannot easily obtain a first gen Ryzen, in order to do so, it's a risk.

It supports it with BIOS rev 3203. There is no guarantee the mobo will come with that version or newer installed.

Sorry didn't read carefully enough. I took this from a b350 subreddit that does say you WILL need a previous 1000 series ryzen to update the bios before switching over to 2000.

"Be sure to update your BIOS BEFORE you swap the cpu. You cant boot with newer CPUs, and therefore cant update the BIOS, if youre on an old BIOS version.

A lot of raven ridge users had a problem, when they bought a 2200G /2400G and a B350/X370 board - they simple couldnt boot and update. I dont think it will be any different with pinnacle ridge."

If they won't work with you absolutely: shop somewhere else.
