Hi,

I was originally going to upgrade my entire PC to a Mid Tower ATX, but decided it might be easier just to stick with my current Micro ATX set-up.

Will the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard fit in a Micro ATX?

And, will it support this GPU: AMD Sapphire Radeon R7 260X OC

And this CPU: AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core (or the 8350)

Yes that mobo will fit into a micro atx case. Yes it will support that cpu and gpu.

Awesome - and would that GPU overlap anything on the motherboard?

In my current motherboard it gets in the way of 1 SATA port, will that happen on this new motherboard?

I have no idea i have never used that motherboard. And SR-71 blackbird may be right abt it running too hot but it looks like it has a pretty beefy VRM heatsink on there, you may want to do some research on that before you buy.

Would you be able to recommend any better boards?

As long as it is Micro ATX, and supports AM3+ then I should be OK.

What pic you looking at? The images on neweggs and Asus's website show no vrm heatsinks, the only heatsink is on the chipset.

There are no good matx boards for those cpus. The cheapest boards I would recommend use the 970 chipset and are ATX. You would be better off with the original plan and get a case that supports an ATX board so you can get a better motherboard. Another option would be to go Intel.

honestly for a 260x just get the 860k. You also have a good range of motherboards for the micro atx form factor. Unless you stream or some other task that can benefit from more cores the 860k will make you more than happy.
