will ASUS R7 360 OC bottleneck Q6600 ?

Solution
Two options really:

Don't get a R7 360, but a more powerful older model GPU, second hand even, newer isn't necessarily better, depends what you want to use it for.

Or the other option is upgrade the PC first, I would go for a new mobo/CPU upgrade, and the OPs ram probably isn't DDR3 if he is running a Q6600, so he can pick up some new RAM for cheap too.

Then you'll be set for most GPUs.

The relevance of telephone processors are lost me. The Q6600 is still a fairly descent CPU, that is able to run most games still on low settings, with the correct mobo and GPU combination.

I want to upgrade also, with similar idea.

What GPU is compatible

I have this Mobo Rampage Formula x48 rev 1.00g
Nvidia GTX 280
Quad Core Q6600
4GB DDR2
Win 7

Strange because a Nvida GTX 280 is only 6 years old. So how it can't be compatible with 7 or 8 years.

I think your not very good with your facts.

But thanks for telling me I needed to check that anyway.

Yeah a quick google shows it is PCIe 2.0

Miss information is what we all want on this forum.

A GTX 280 is an 8 year old design . But disregarding that obvious error when motherboard/chipset technology changes there is always a transition period and some boards available then would have been pcie 1.0 , 1.1 and a few would have been 2.0.
Some of the 1.0 might be electrically compatible . . Most would not .

So as I said it would be something you need to check about your specific motherboard .

As for misinformation , I was answering the OP's question . And right now neither you nor I have any idea what motherboard they are using .
Go ahead. Waste his money by making assumptions if you think that is appropriate .
Personally I dont .
