Question Will ASUS WS C612E SAGE support 7 GPUs?

WS C621E SAGE has 7 PCIe 16x slots.

Yet the manual (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m..._UM_V5_WEB.pdf) allows only 4 video cards in its largest configuration.

These 4 video cards are on SLI, however. We don't use SLI (scientific compute), but we would want to be able to use all 7 slots. We don't mind going from 16x to 8x (but not lower than 8x).

Is it doable? If not, why would this board have 7 slots?

I'm aware. Call me paranoid, I just don't want to end up wasting time on buying and then having to return it, because this is what is said in the manual:

There's only four working configurations mentioned, and the one with the greatest number of GPUs only has 4 of them. I realize that most plug their GPUs right into the slots, which doesn't leave any space which should explain why the manual doesn't mention any other configuration. I still prefer to err on the side of caution is the reason I'm asking the question.

So, nothing to worry about? All slots should run on 8x, at the very least?

Thanks.
