Will cleaning my pc give me better fps?

I just got a new r9 280 and my computer is getting dusty
Its a bit older than half a year.

You can improve airflow by cleaning it which will help keep you components cool. You won't see any performance gains though unless your hardware has been running hotter than it's meant to run.

I recently just took apart my case. Mind you, it hasn't been opened in almost 4 years so there was tons of dust everywhere in it. It was crazy. Anyway, I bought compressed air and cleaned it all and there was no FPS boost. If there was, it was a very slight and unnoticeable boost.
It would be a good thing though to clean out your computer to avoid it from over-heating. In my case, I guess it was the design or fan that made it so that it never over-heated.

With my gaming laptop I noticed a huge fps boost after I cleaned the dust out of the vent. It was caked on and I'm surprised it was able to blow any air out.

for laptops it would help, it did not give you any boost technically, it just gave you the performance you should be getting, in other words those dust were making things hot so they throttle down the performance (hence the relative increase when it was cleaned)
