As the title asks, will there be much of a difference in price for pc parts after christmas in the UK online or in store.

Im currently looking at the i5-660k and evga 6gb superclocked 1060

Wise choice. Not that I disagree to much with the prior poster, its not much longer and we can see if the new CPU's have an impact on prices. The old CPU's wont go up in price that is for sure. Worst...
Very likely if after Christmas means you can wait until say mid to late January. Should have discounts on CPU's due to Kaby lake and AMD's Zen. Course I cant predict the future but I would expect it yes. However I would doubt you see much change on the core pieces like PSU, motherboard, RAM etc. You might want to watch for deal from now until mid Jan to pick up the other pieces you need and get the CPU mid to late Jan when vendors start clearing stock.

To be honest, I planned to buy a computer last year and instead got a drum kit which I am pleased with but now this computer is 6 1/2 years old and it needs upgrading so after waiting that long what is another half a month 😀

Ill complete my build with help from this site and they start getting what I can when I see good prices.

I don't really see their being much if any discounts. Zen (hope I'm wrong) won't be competing well with intel (AMD's track record, again hope I'm wrong). With the introduction of Kaby Lake, they're not a huge improvement over Skylake and will be priced higher leaving no need to lower prices.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I will just try and buy parts over the course of the next month or so. Im a patient person and Ill just look out and try and save £10 here and there which will help have some money left over for a keyboard

In the off chance AMD pulls a rabbit out of its hat and competes with Intel, you will have a chance to look into an AMD based build if you are inclined.

Due to the pounds value falling some compenents that were £200 a few months ago are now £250. Any price drop small or large will mean I have more to spend on myself, games, new peripherals and such.

Thanks for the reply, to finish this thread i will choose this as the answer
