So I have an FX 4350, and I am going to be upgrading to a Ryzen 5 1400 or a Ryzen 5 1600 and I want to get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo on both my FX 4350 for now and then onto my Ryzen 5 1400 when I get it. Will there be any compatibility issues and will I have to buy an upgrade kit or something? And if so, where can I get one?

Thanks in advance.

Solution

It will work with the am3+ bracket on the 4350, if you get ryzen you will need to go to corsairs website and get an am4 bracket, which will fit the hyper 212 evo onto your processor

Solution

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, will need an upgraded mounting solution moving from FX (AM3+) to Ryzen (AM4) if you have already owned it for a bit. Contact Cooler Master for the needed parts. If you was going for a new cooler, there are better coolers for around the same price or even less, such as the Deepcool Gammaxx 400. If you do have your heart set in the 212 Evo though, as a brand new unit, it should have all the required hardware for both (as should the Gammaxx.)

As to sources:
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/hmtCmG,7998TW,93Crxr,CbmxFT/

You can adjust, for the most part, if needed for the Country you wish to purchase from in that link too. Click on the cooler you wish, and it will open a page that shows the various sources for each cooler, and their current selling price.

EDIT: spelling correction. Added sources for Coolers.

honestly, get this instead...

Deepcool GAMMAX 400.

It comes AM3+ and AM4 ready, so you wont need to buy a seperate adapter. It also has brackets for intel sockets. Its about the same cost as the hyper212evo, it has similar cooling capabilities, and its gotta cool blue LED fan attached. Also, you should be equally concerned about the clearance in your case. Both these coolers are just under 160mm tall, and a lot of cases will be too small to house them. what case ru using?

Hi thank you all for quick replies.

I am using the CiT Vantage case and I have been browsing for a good sized budget case for a while now but cannot seem to find one. My current case is 18.4cm wide and I do not believe you can fit either a cooler master hyper or gammax in but I'm not too sure. The reason I am buying a new cooler is because I am using the stock cooler on my FX 8350 and it sounds like a jet engine when I'm playing games.

The Gammax sounds good as it is AM4 and AM3+ ready so I would like to get that. I'm not set on either cooler I am just trying to find a decent cooler that is relatively quiet and high performance.

Why would I need to go to Corsairs website, I do not believe I mentioned a Corsair product but might be wrong. Or did you just mean Cooler Master's website?

(This covers all three cases I found of that model of case.)

According to this info (please make sure it it matches your case) the EVO would just barely fit. The Gammaxx 400 would have a little more room, and (if you can get it where you live,) a Cryorig H7 would have even more room. The Scythe - Kotetsu would be the tallest, at max height - 160mm.

As a side note: save up some cash and replace the power supply that came with that case with a better unit, if it came with one. Typically ones included with that size of case are complete rubbish that will eventually, if not sooner, damage your expensive parts when they die, if not before.

Ok thank you, I think I'm just going to buy either the Gammax or the hyper 212 evo and if either do not fit in my case I will have to buy a new one. Preferably the Corsair - Carbide SPEC-0 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/bFkwrH/corsair-spec-04-blackgray-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-9011109-ww

I do believe that case will fit the 212 evo.

your welcome. The other two coolers I mentioned are good coolers too btw, if available in your region of the world.

Yes, the cryorig h7 I’ve had my eyes on that for a while. I live I’m the uk, do you think I can ship it to myself easily and will I need a mounting bracket for am3+ and am4+

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/93Crxr/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h7

Sources include Amazon, Box, CCL, and overclockers.uk in the UK. It's supposed to come with the required hardware for either. (hang on to the extra hardware for the transition from FX to Ryzen.)
