Will DDR2 PC1000 5-5-5-15 work as PC6400 4-4-4-12?

Hi I'm looking at G.Skill 4gb kit, with product number F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ

I was wondering if in general, but with this memory kit specifically, they would operate at 800mhz 4-4-4-12 instead.

it should try it at 5-5-5-15@800 then goto 4-4-4-12 if that works.

It should. All the faster memory is is DDR2-800 memory, tested to run at the higher speed, generally with relaxed timings and a higher voltage.

I have two of these kits running currently. Chipmaker is Powerchip a big company in Japan. Unfortunately as I understand, these DIMMs will not run 4 CAS. I have never tried! I'll see if I can find a link for you to confirm.
