Will Direct X 12 Support Windows 7?

I know it's been a few months since Microsoft announced Direct X 12, but I am still skeptical about Direct X 12 being supported on Windows 7. I just don't like Windows 8, as with most enthusiasts / gamers. I won't be willing to spend $100+ on an OS that I know I will hate just for more performance from the new API. If Microsoft supports Windows 7 that would be great, but if they don't, I'm sure the PC gamer community would explode with rage over this. What are your thoughts about this issue? Do you think that Direct X 12 will be supported on Windows 7 or not?

I would use a variety of OSes just like I usually do. As for win8, only on a touch screen, or I can get classic shell.

I still don't understand why people hate windows 8 so much. If it is only for the metro screen then you can change it with a simple programm to look like windows 7 start screen
