So, i'm living all by myself and i try to conserve power to pay less. I'm planning to buy another gpu to run on dual. So yeah, will there be a great increase of power consumption leading to bigger bills?

oh please, it's like turning on a light bulb while you're using your computer. How much is turning on a light going to cost you a month?

If you want to avoid purchases that will make a significant increase in your electric bill, avoid buying another fridge.

There is a chart on this page that shows how much money a single video card will cost to run. The card, a GTX 960 will be similar to your 7850 in terms of power consumption.

Luckily, there is a simple formula provided where one can change the energy cost to match their personal situation.

Yeah, it a bit catch 22.

Solar is expensive here (like everything), and you need a new digital power meter which charges you massively for peak usage, and less for off-peak, rather than a flat rate. Overall you pay more per kWh with the new meter.

The other option is DIY solar. You can keep your analogue meter, but you can't sell unused power back to the grid, which makes it less attractive.

Luckily we've done away with a ridiculous carbon tax which saw us paying nearly 40c/kWh.
