Will Fractal Design Newton R2, 1000W run 2 x 6950 and 1 x 7950 24/7?

Hello I'm building one of my mining rigs, and have noticed that 1200W PSU:s costs way more than just a 1000W. So I'm planning to buy a Fractal Design Newton R2, 1000W 80+ instead of a 1200W as I've conventionally done.

Thus my question, I'm planning to run 1 x 7950 + 2 x 6970 ( wrote wrong in title ) on the system ( full load ) all time, everything else is practically the cheapest you can get. The motherboard is a model Asus P5K Premium.

Thank you in advance!

tbh i think 1000w should be fine adding up say if they are max 250w per graphics card then 750w for the three and the rest of you system is going to be about 200w so should be fine aslong as it is a 80plus psu :) but all three should be about 650-700w

But that configuration will be impossible to run. The driver software won't allow it. It's not like Phys X where you can mix and match cards. All cards have to be exactly the same or you will risk system failure.

Are you sure? I've seen people run all kinds of different cards on their system?

NVIDIA's Phys X drivers allow you to swap different cards for different performance levels, but I've never seen anything that allows you to do that with AMD cards. From what I gather and my own personal experience is that on AMD rigs all cards have to be the same in order to get the most out of Crossfire.

Ahh I see, no they will not be used in crossfire, but be linked by risers.
This setup is for mining https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining, so any use except that is not needed :)

Yes I see, that's really what I'm looking after. But will the cards be able to run 24/7 stable in this condition or will the PSU maybe be running too high resulting in breakdown later on?

Depends on what power supply you get. You don't want to get a cheap one.

Thanks. Yes I would agree, but they do after all cost 2x the price of the one I'm looking at. The PSU costs are around 30% of the total costs so it makes a great impact.

stick with the one you have looking at it now it should do the job you want :)
but me personaly would go for the one i linked just to make sure i got what i needed for sure plus you can always sell it again after :)

Check out this one then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438010

This one is made by Super Flower, who is known for producing high quality units. That Fractal Design one is made by ATNG: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913-6.html

I would read some reviews before purchasing though.

Thank you both for your suggestions, I've checked them up and unfortunately I live in Scandinavia so thus have no access to those nice prices 🙁

Have now checked up one guy who was also mining and he had the same PSU and ran 3 x 7970's so it should all be fine.
