Will getting a high end router ensure near wired speeds and stability?

I have been holding off on getting a high end router because I feel it is a waste of money considering the fact that I only have 25 mbps download speed and 5 mbps upload speed. But I'm just wondering if getting a high end router for use with something like a dual band adapter or a high end phone (with what I assume to be high end wifi antennas, and dual band support (more specifically the iphone 5s and galaxy s4)) will help push wifi speeds consistently up to near, if not the same as wired speeds, because if so, it just might be a worthy investment after all. Other opinions on this situation are appreciated.

Overall, do you think I should splurge the 80-100 dollars (I am not looking for "AC" high end) on a router with only 25 down and 5 up speeds?

You're comparing internet/isp speeds with wifi speeds. They don't compare. A "high end" router will not get you faster internet.

It will get you a much faster and more stable home network. You will drop less signals. You will be able to transfer files between your machines faster but you will not surf the web faster.

I spent $180 on my router. In my opinion, yes. It was worth it.

I know they are different things. What I mean is, if I am currently getting speeds of like 15mbps on my wireless devices, will a high end router help them match the speeds of my wired desktop at 25 mbps?

Environmental conditions matter far more. Distance, direction, construction, interference, etc, ec.

Is the main router in the basement, and you're on the second floor? It will suck
Are you trying to broadcast through the kitchen? Microwave, etc...
Lots of conflict with neighbors?

A better router 'may' help. but find the problem first.

Maybe. I just ran speedtest.net on my pc (wired) and my wife's laptop (wireless). Both are slower than they should be but I got 13.5mbps on her's and 14.5 on mine.

I am conducting these tests right beside the router. There is most definitely no interference. I also live in an apartment and everything is relatively close together. I do notice using the microwave slows down or even cuts the internet sometimes, but after it finishes, the speed returns to normal. I also find that using wifi at the far edges of my house is very slow or doesn't work at all, so the increased range is also appreciated.

To give you an accurate idea, I just did a speed test on 2 wireless devices, my iphone and desktop with wireless adapter. My PC gets a ping of 49ms, 14.6 down and 4.38 up. My iphone gets a ping of 65ms, 11.21 down and 5.06 up.

The wired desktop gets a ping of 49ms as well but 26.31 down and 6 up. All 3 tests were conducted using the same server. On more than one occasion, the wired test would default to a faster 10ms ping server which yields speeds even faster.
