Will going from 1440 x 900 to 1920 x 1080 make much of a difference?

My monitor's max resolution is only 1440 x 900, and I've been considering getting a monitor that can handle 1080p. Problem is, most monitors that I find that can handle that are fairly expensive, and I"m wondering if it'd be worth it. Can any gamers here give their opinions? (My rig is fairly powerful, so a reduction in game performance shouldn't be an issue)

Here, this should give you a basic idea.

GTA V performance in 1080: 65FPS (Stable)
GTA V performance in 900: 75-90FPS (Unstable)

I wasn't expecting such an increase, but, there is the jump for you. Also, the game had a huge jump in graphics when I raised it, so 1080 makes the games look better.
