Like the title suggests, I've got an Intel e5700 3gHz processor (Old as hell). And I wanna upgrade the gpu, cuz I ain't got any. So I've been considering gt 1030, but my main conssern is will it bottleneck? And if it does could you suggest me some other gpus in it's place? Thanks

Solution
That depends on if your BIOS is UEFI or Legacy, if it's Legacy then you may run into problems getting the motherboard to recognize the GPU. The last GPU that officially supports Legacy Bios was a 750 TI which also happens to be a little faster than a 1030 GT.

Thanks for the reply, I never did 😛, just want to play popular net games like Cs or Dota and such, the real miracle for me will be if I can run gta v with 20 fps on it xD

GT1030 is a good boost over integrated graphics.
Actually, the e5700 is a decent gaming chip.
For fast action games, you could go stronger, like to a GTX1050.

OTOH, GTAV can be cpu limited.

To assess how much you will benefit from stronger graphics,
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

The thing is, gpus are SUPER rare and SUPER expensive in my country. Once a new generation comes out the older ones are forgotten. I searched for 750ti initially but found none. Also my mobo is Gigabyte G41M combo, I searched it up and other forums said there should be no problems, atleast I hope there aren't 😛

The thing is, I would've gone for gtx 1050, but my main concern was bottlenecking, my processor is almost the same age as my younger brother, so I was concerned if even gt 1030 would run properly, so I searched it, and they said it would DEFINITELY bottleneck. And I'm used to gaming at 20 fps, I just wanna play a game and enjoy it, not visually take in every single detail, though I must admit titles like Witcher 3 deserve it, but titles like fallout have the same experience in any graphics, and my main concern are the online mobas or fps, so 1030 is quite good for that. And at my current graphics, even san andreas runs at 30fps, lol, just look at the comparison http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GT-1030-vs-Intel-G41-Express-Chipset/m283726vsm7732

I would suggest you boot to your BIOS and see if your have UEFI support, V1.2 and V1.3 uses SM BIOS 2.4 which is from 2005 and Legacy only , but V2.0 had Legacy/UEFI support. This is a oddball board that has 2XDDR2 and 2XDDR3 slots with support for all the Q9XXX and Extreme chips.

It's odd your board is listed as having DMI 2.0 that wasn't released until 2011 and not on P41 boards.

It's probably V1.3, it's written on the board, now what do I do? lol

Yup, it's legacy, now I'm unsure xD

Odds are you are not going to get it to work but you could try and return if no luck.

You can try the CMOS clear trick like we use to have to do with hard drives but I doubt you will have luck.

1. Install the new Graphics Card
2. Find the CMOS Jumper.
3. Pull the jumper from the 1&2 position and place the jumper on the 2&3 position for a few seconds, then place the jumper back to the original 1&2 position.

Boot and see what happens, sometimes it works most of the time it doesn't or find a 750 TI since they have a Legacy/UEFI Toggle switch.

Thnx, will try and update!
