Hey guys, I'm planning to upgrade my old quadro GPU in an XW8600 workstation.
The power supply is sufficient with two 6 pin connectors, and it has PCI gen 2.0 16X slots.
I only use it for work (adobe premier and after effects mostly), not gaming.
I'm looking at the new gtx 970.
I've read that GTX 780 and 780Ti work well in it but they have Kepler architecture and the new series has Maxwell.
In the long run the plan is to replace the entire system with the HP z620 or z820 series and salvage the new gpu from it, but that will take a bit more time to gather the funds for it.
So will the gtx 970 work in both systems?
Thanks, Kenez

Hey, Joeteoh99, thanks for the quick reply.
The PSU is 850 watt 90% efficent.
The current Cpu is a 4 core xeon x5460 3.16 GHZ and 16 gigs ECC ram.
The case is a standard XW 8600 with an ATX MOBO, so its big enough to house it.
I know that the ram and the CPU isn't enough, and it might create the bottleneck, thats why I'm planning to get the HP z620 or Z820.
The new build will probably be :
2x 6 core E5-2600 series
around 40 gigs of DDR3 ECC ram
850 psu
SSD system
2X 7200 RPM HDD in Raid 0
And the above mentionen GTX 970 as the GPU

The question is will it work well enough in the current system, without major problems and will it work great in the z620.
Thanks
