[SOLVED] Will having 3200 Mhz DDR4 boost performance pairing it with i5 10400 and a B460 MOBO?

Hey Guys so last year i upgraded my pc with an i5 10400 paired with a ROG STRIX B460-H Gaming MOBO and a brand new GPU. The problem is that i already had 2x4gb DDR4 G.skill Ripjaws V Series 2800Mhz Cl 15-16-16-35 1.25v and 1x8gb DDr4 Hyper X Fury 2666Mhz Cl16-18-18 1.2V, and i didnt know at the time that mixing memory sizes, frequency and latency affects the system stability and performance, so i rolled with it. Now i wanted to upgrade it to new Ram matching sticks in term of frequency, latency and size. I was thinking of upgrading it to 2x8gb Ddr4 Corsair Vengeance Lpx 3200 Mhz, but the i5 10400 only supports up to 2666mhz and the MOBO up to 2933Mhz for that I5 cpu. My question is, if i upgrade the DDr4 memory to the 3200Mhz would that have a boost in performance (gaming Wise) or it would be the same as buying 2666Mhz? My goal is to play cyberpunk at a steady 60-60+ fps at ultra, now im running it at high at 60+ fps with that pc specs i said before and with xmp profile activated to 2666MHZ. Thx in advance!

SYSTEM SPECS:
CPU: i5-10400 with stock cooler.
Motherboard: Rog Strix B460-H gaming.
GPU: amd radeon rx5600xt saphire pulse.
PSU: (not sure about the exact model, becouse i bought it like 5 years ago and still works fine) XFX 650w 80 plus bronce.
Ram (16gb): G.skill Ripjaws V Series (2x4gb) 2133MHZ DDR4 Cas 15 and kingston hyperx fury 2666MHZ DDR4 CAS 16 (1x8gb).
Case: NZXT S340 White.
Storage: 2 HDD western digital 500gb and 1tb.

B460 will not run ram past 2666, with an i5. You have to have an i7 to get 2933. Switching the ram should improve performance, regardless, as 3 sticks is forcing you to run in single channel, vs the dual channel, with a match set of ram.

If everything is working fine now get the latest bios...non-beta...and chipset driver.
Test to make sure everything functions.
Remove all the old ram and fit the new ram in the proper slots.
Play with xmp to see how far you can push it.
At least you will have dual channel on 16GB instead of the hybrid setup you have.

Yeah, but you think that I should buy 2666mhz or 3200mhz?im asking this becouse I already own a 1x8gb kingston fury 2666mhz so If I buy another equal to that, with the same part number and everything, should that give me same resulta tan the 3200mhz?thx

OKAY, I appreciate it men thx. I dont have the bios up to date, do you think that upgrading it would give me more performance too?

I would do the 3200mhz, as it should still run 2666mhz. That way should you decide to upgrade to a better motherboard, that can support that speed, you don't have to buy it again. Just as an FYI, a 10400, in a B460 board, running at 2666, is slower, in gaming, than a Ryzen 3 3300x, with 3200mhz ram.

yeah, yesterday i saw on the youtube channel of gamers nexus that the ryzen 3 3300x runs better than a i5 10400 in gaming. I have to investigate more the next time before buying.

Hey so, this is odd. I was checking the MOBOs memory compatibility in the rog strix website, and when i look for the part number of the Hyper X 1x8gb DDR4 2666mhz it doesnt appear on the list but the memory works, as long as i know, FINE with the motherboards. The part number of the Hyper X RAM stick is HX426C16FB3/8 but in the MOBOs list there is a HX426C16FB2/8.the only different number is the last before, where on mine is a 3 the listed in the MOBOs list is a 2. Is it the same? and when i open cpu-z, its saiys that the part number of the Hyper x on the system is KHX2666C16/8G. Is it weird? And with the G.Skills 2x4gb 2800MHZ, my part number is not even listed there.
