Question Will HSMR work on Windows 10?

Hi,


I found a ST18000NM013J Exos X20z 18TB on ebay for 200$.


The problem is I found a couple of claims that they can’t work on Windows 10.


Is this actually true?

it´s sata III, can´t see any difficulties running it under windows 10 64bit
you will have to initialize it as GPT and not MBR to run more than 2TB

Just to clarify,

What is host managed HSMR?

I believe this drive (exos x20z) is HSMR which is Hybrid SMR.

Or is there another type of HSMR completely?

I got confused.

without the management tool HSMR will not be available and "only" 18TB CMR will be usable. with the HSMR tool/firmware 20TB could be possible.
