im afraid after recently upgrading and spending around 400$ that the games produced for the next gen console with run bad on my system and ill have to upgrade even further.

system specifications:
FX-8320 BE
EVGA gtx 660 2GB SC edition
4gb vengence 1600 MHz
Asus motherBoard
600 watt PSU

Im not a total newb, but im still not sure if this setup will be able to
run anything in the next 2 years.

yes but wont they be specifically built around? look at current consoles, they do very well vs alot of pcs, and the next gens will be 6 times better than the current ones.

Quoted from- http://xbox.about.com/od/xbox2/a/xbox360specs.htm

"Custom ATI Graphics Processor

500MHz processor
10 MB of embedded DRAM
48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines
Unified shader architecture"

That is the current Xbox 360 GPU. Do not be too worried about consoles beating pc's for gaming performance :D

EDIT: went on wiki and... ".....therefore very similar to an ATI Radeon X1800 series of PC graphics cards as far as features and performance are concerned...."

yes, but looking at those specs and then seeing what the xbox can do really do make me worry. those specs would hardly pass as a pc in 2001, and yet the graphics the consoles can produce.

You have to remember that the xbox is dedicated to gaming whereas the computer is not. Gaming computers will always have the upper hand and imo, tv's will soon have integrated gaming in them. We already have smart tv's etc. so why not gaming tv's?

That 660 will easily handle anything coming up in the next years.

Just because BF3 is a very demanding game, take a look at the minimum requirements. They happen to be hardware 5+ years old. What does that tell you?
