Hello all, I am considering upgrading my FM2+ motherboard with an AMD Athlon X4 880k - quad core 4.0 ghz from an AMD A6-7470k (I disabled the graphics cores and installed a GTX 1050 non-ti). I tried running PUBG and it was unplayable (around 5-10 fps). I am wondering if the 880k will run it at 30-50 fps (playable).
Of course, I'm not expecting crazy performance, all I want to know is if I can play and if it will be worth it. I don't have enough money to build an AM3 with Ryzen as I would like too, but if 88$ will get my GTX 1050 playing games like PUBG, then I'll go for it. If not, I may just give up.
Based on some videos I have seen it seems it might, but this reddit thread brings forth some doubt: https://www.reddit.com/r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS/comments/6eojyt/please_help_my_up_my_framerate/
So basically I want to know if I will be getting the maximum potential out of my GTX 1050, because right now my crappy dual-core APU is bottlnecking the hell out of it. Please help me guys!!!
Other specs: MSI a68hm Grande Motherboard
8gb ddr3 ram
MSI GeForce GTX 1050 2gb OC
1tb hdd
*edit: after a bit of research, this combination it just not quite there. It's probably going to get 20 fps and max out at 40. People with this combination are even considering upgrading themselves: https://forums.playbattlegrounds.com/topic/86303-should-i-buy-a-new-graphics-card-or-buy-a-new-cpu/
