Hey guys, thinking about upgrading to a 144hz monitor, but I don't want to take the risk if I can't run Siege at this fps. Current specs:
-Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
-GeForce GTX 970
-8gb RAM

Thanks, bud. I decided to go ahead a build a new PC instead. I'll wait to see if the GPU drops in price before I start to buy the parts, but this is a mock-up of what I'll probably be going with. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/dMf8TB.

D15 is overkill
Krait MB is a no no, bad quality
3200 ram is recommended
that gpu price is already very good, here in US, $1300...

A 970 with an i5 is fine, maybe a little bottle necking depending on the resolution and settings, but hes fine like this. I've seen people run slower i3's and a 1060 and be perfectly fine with no bottlenecking

1080Ti requires 600W minimum! There is even info on box of card where they say this, you got to be kidding with 550w right? :D

Well the supernova is probably fine if he's not overclocking but its definitely not recommended to use it. 600w should be the minimum I recommend a 750w is your doing any overclocking

8600k power draw in gaming is <100W:

1080ti power draw in gaming is < 300W:

aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3JvLmNvbS9aLzgvNjcwMDA0L29yaWdpbmFsLzAwLVdhdHRhZ2UtT3ZlcnZpZXcucG5n

Unless you intentionally want to destroy your rig and torture CPU and GPU to max at the same time, 550 is more than enough.

did you not look at the chart I posted? 8600k @ 4.9 in game still pulls less than 100W,
extreme OC 1080ti <340W
Can you explain the 600W?

total power draw is about 500w or higher depending on the voltages used. Just because it only pulls 500w doesn't mean you can get a 500w psu and be fine, most powersupplies can only output there rated wattages at around 70% ussage and it goes down slightly on higher usage due to the efficiency curve of said PSU. Its always safe to have around 100 or more "spare watts" on your PSU, in case you upgrade later and to keep the usage around 70% will have the greatest efficiency.

500? Nope, ~400 is normal draw even with overclocking. 450 at most I will say. 80% is good running level, not sure where you get the 70%.

Every PSU is different ones ive seen work best at 70% also yeah if your pushing 5Jigawhats on the CPU with a high voltage and your maxxing the GPU with a high voltage it can push close to 500 or more.
