thank you for the reply i will check out the link, my current cpu is an i3 2120 (planning to get an i7 2600k one day) based on bottleneck calculator the gtx 1050 will be bottlenecked by 10% which i think isn't that much especially since i'm ok with limiting fpsHere is a forum post over at TechPowerUp where a user has tested this using a GTX 1080ti:

The performance difference due to the slot bandwidth is pretty small, maybe up to 10% in average (but no change in 1% and 0.1% lows which are more important for smooth gameplay anyway)...
So no, not really. That said if you are on a platform that only has PCIe 2.0, chances are the cpu isn't that fast so that is going to be more of a bottleneck than the slot.

lol the psu is probs the most limiting factor tbh , especially since it has no pcie cables , an upgrade is gonna be a headache and i'm not really gonna be playing anything too demanding so i think i'll get my 1050 and be happy , the i7 will come when it comes tbhYeah a GTX 1050 is a good pairing with that setup - a card of that speed isn't going to be limtied by PCIe 2,0 at all.
I would actually suggest you look out for the 1050ti, 3gb 1060 or 4gb RX 570 if you can, those gpu's are a little overkill for your i3, but give you a bit of headroom for when you upgrade to the i7 and shouldn't cost you much more (the only thing to note with the more powerful parts is you may need a better PSU).
