Will I be "forced" to move to Win 10?

I just read that from January, they are making Win10 a "recommended" update for everyone. I am running on Win7, love it and I refuse to get "forced" into moving to Win10. This is a nonsense for me. If I keep windows update settings off, will the update still install? Will they make it mandatory, or we can still keep using our PC's/laptops with an older OS?

Solution
No, the update won't be mandatory, it will still require you pushing a button to actually do the upgrade. It's just going to be even more in your face about offering the upgrade. Unless you turn off automatic updates it will also download the files for the upgrade.

Whenever I see a post of folks having problems on a non-W10 forum, and they state W10 used, I immediately skip the post. I don't feel like spending time troubleshooting a new OS when things are not yet stable.

Some of us see free$ as cost$$ in time. If I don't need the latest directX etc, why wouldn't I want to stay with the true&tried? Is just a tool to me, not a hobby. Wake me up when 10.1 is available.

YMMV.

just a tool to me too, when I want to cut down a tree i use a chainsaw but you feel free to keep using a flint axe
