Question Will I have a problem with heat putting this build in a Bitfenix Phenom mATX?

Hello,

I'm currently planning my first build, and am only waiting on the aftermarket RX 5700 / 5700XT GPUs to come out before I order everything.

Looking at cases, I think the Phenom is gorgeous, and also fills one of my main concerns around size - my desk isn't massive, and my build will sit on the desktop next to my monitor.

A couple of reviewers have mentioned that airflow through the Phenom isn't great (due to that small size) - am I in danger of overheating the build I've put together below, if I put it into a Phenom? I am planning on getting as many case fans as I can fit!

Thanks for your input!

Your not going to overheat putting that build in the Bitfenix Phenom. Some cases may provide better air flow, but they will only change your temps by a few degrees. So your load temps may be 75C instead of 72C. That wont change any performance and it wont have a negative impact on the life of the parts.

If you like the case, then go for it.

Thank you for replying, it's very much appreciated.

Out of interest,is there anything you would change about the build?

If what feelinfroggy777 is correct about temps, then everything else seems to fit. HERE lists what the case can fit. Wraith Spire specs HERE - which is given with the CPU should fit easily. As for the GPU... You may run into issues! HERE says that its 270mm long... THIS REVIEWER says that you got about 9 inches for the first PCI Slot - which is where you can only put your GPU. He says 9 inches, but looking at the video and giving a bit say 9.5 inches that equates to 241.3mm - which is not enough room for the GPU... I couldn't see which MB they're using but it definitely looks like you'll need a different motherboard...

Hello,

Thanks for the reply, and for taking the time to watch a review to answer it for me! The Phenom specs says a max card length of 320mm - would the issue that Canucks mentions be caused by the specific mobo that he's using?

Also, the reviewer goes on to say straight after that 12 inch cards would fit no problem. What specifically is causing the 9 inch issue?

Your build is good. I would probably save some money and go with the 3600 over the 3600x. There is very little performance difference. I might go for a bigger SSD with the money saved.

You dont need a 650 watt PSU for that build, but it wont hurt anything by having a bigger PSU. The TXM is a quality unit, so if your happy, then it will be fine.

Thanks again.

I did originally go for the 3600, but with X costing only an extra £20 and having a better cooling solution I figured it wouldnt hurt. With regards to the SSD I figured I could always get another in the future, if I need it. Won't be using it to store the majority of things.

I wasn't sure about PSU size, wasn't sure if I wanted to be safer than sorry, but if a 550W will cover it then I'll probably swing for that

In the US the x is $50 more, not really worth it in my opinion. But for only 20 more and it does come with the better cooler, then I would stick with the 3600x.
