will i lose data if i upgrade to windows 10

I got the offer for reserving slot for installing windows 10
on july 29 when it is available and after my pc downloads it , will it install immediately after downloading or will i have time to retrieve my data , or will there be any data loss ?

You will keep all your data. Upgrades don't delete anything. I think if you turn off automatic updates on windows update, then it will not automatically install.

It will download the needed files in the background.
You have to tell it when to actually do the upgrade. It won't do it automatically.
There should be no data loss, but it is always advisable to be prepared, just in case something weird happens.
