I’m probably going to go for the msi tomahawk since it is in my budget range. Thanks a lot for the help you just gave me all the information I need :)

I would STRONGLY recommend you avoid the MSi motherboards... They are known to have crappy voltage regulators except on their TOTL boards. The regulators overheat under load and can cause the CPU to throttle down in speed until it cools down... It might not be too bad for the CPU you chosen, but it would be a potential issue if you were to upgrade the CPU down the road. The low and mid-tier MSi boards cannot handle CPUs that draw more than 65 watts.

I would look at the ASUS Prime X570P or the ASROCK X570 Pro 4... Those boards run 50-60 degrees Celsius cooler than the MSi which hits about 115-125 degrees which is excessively hot...

Wasting money, on fluff, for the sake of performance, is never a good idea.

MSI had some of the best VRMs around for B450 boards. It's X570 where they seem to have dropped the ball.

I really hope B550 comes out sooner rather than later, should make these recommendations a lot easier.

The current situation now is recommending an MSI B450 (with their associated BIOS issues), a non-MSI B450 (with the caveat that you may have to get someone to update the BIOS for you), or an X570 (which generally don't make sense in any semi budget-conscious build). And of course there's also the MSI Max boards, which seem to have terrible availability.
