Will i need a cpu cooler for this build?

- i5 4670k
- z87-a mobo
- Fractal design r4
- corsair vengeance 8 gb ddr3 ram
- PSU=corsair tx650
- samsung 840 EVO series 120 gb ssd.

Guys this is the build i will be buying and i was just wondering if the cpu is already cooled enough by the design of this lovely case 😛 and all the fans that come with it. I will be overclocking. I was also wondering if all of these parts are very modern decent parts for things such as recording and streaming? Also will this handle next gen games because this is purely a gaming rig? Pls do not recommend me different graphics cards because my friend gave me this one already and it seems to be a beast when it comes to minecraft shaders and bf3 recording. I am just looking for some second thoughts and would like to hear some feedback 😀 It would also be nice to hear an estimate of how long this rig will stay "in fashion" and maybe some predictions of how my computer will play minecraft multiplayer. (Yes i know it will be good but im an fps junky)

If you plan to overclock, you will need an aftermarket cooler for sure. The stock fan/heatsink that comes with the haswells are terrible.

At a MINIMUM, you should get the Hyper 212 evo. If you are serious about overclocking, then consider the monster cooler Noctua NH-D14

Yes, you can stay with the stock cooler until Xmas, but I'd recommend holding off on any overclocking.

Ok thanks Jim 😀 but our rigs seem pretty much the same but maybe your card is a little better. If you have any idea also of how long this will last me and if its gonna run things great i would likje to know. yes im a n00b its my first rig ever

Just a heads up, when you put the stock heatsink on, it comes with thermal paste already applied to the heatsink. When you go to put your newer aftermarket cooler on, you'll have to first remove the old thermal paste that comes with the stock fan. Have some rubbing alcohol or (non-perfumed) nail polish remover ready to help the old goop off your cpu. Make sure it is nice and clean before you put your new aftermarket cooler on.

As for how long your system will last, you'll be good for a while for sure. I'm adding a second 770 in a month when I go back home for Christmas (the cards are ridiculously expensive here in Japan). You'll be able to add a second 670 in the future when / if you feel the need, and that will make a monster gaming system.

Well, there is always a chance to mess things up. But as long as you are careful it's no big deal. Use the rubbing alcohol sparingly on a Qtip (or a coffee filter works well too). Do not use too much, the danger is getting any of this on your motherboard. That would be bad. As long as you don't use too much, you'll be fine.

And yes, the 670 will handle most games very very well, assuming you're on one monitor at 1920x1080.

Would it be worth it to just go ahead and get the cooler now or would i not feel a difference if i overclock or not with games that are currently out??

well then, yes you need a better one, H100i for lowest temperature and Be Quiet Dark Rock 2 for quietness

No problem at all!

You won't be able to overclock much at all with the stock cooler, they are pretty bad. I'd recommend getting an aftermarket cooler right away, don't even bother putting the stock one on. Even if you aren't overclocking, it will still keep it MUCH cooler.

You don't really need to overclock to have high performance in the majority of today's games. You have a really good cpu. Most games are more gpu dependent than cpu. But for the more cpu dependent games you will get performance increases with overclocking.
