Will i need a good speaker for a sound card?

I am planning to add a sound card in to my pc and I was wondering if i'll need a decent speaker for the sound card to work to it's full potential.

For example if the sound card's signal to noise ratio is 100db, will I need a speaker with with the same SNR ratio or does it not matter?

What about the frequency response? If the sound card offers something like 10hz to 48 khz, will I need to have the same frequency response for the speaker?

Actually in your shoes i would 1st buy as decent a pair of speakers my $$ allows me then take it to another level with a discrete sound card/ DAC

So the speaker specs needs to be similar or better for the sound card to make a difference?
