The monitor i have right now is the SAMSUNG ToC T240HD Rose-Black 24" 5ms

The Monitor i want to get is the Dell UltraSharp IPS-panel U2410

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260020

They are the exact same size and resolution, which is ok to me because i like 1920x1200 and i like 24". I would like to go bigger but havent found any monitors that would support what i want in my price range ($500).

I will be using it 80% of the time for gaming, but i do watch movies and TV shows from afar (on my bed) so viewing angle is also important to me.

Also - when i say gaming i mostly mean RPG's. While i do play some FPS and RTS, im not very competitive, so Response time is important, but not crucial to me.

I also wont be getting rid of the Samgung, it will instead become my second monitor and i will remove the 19" i currently have.
Is $500 worth it for the upgrade? i know next to nothing about monitors but it does look like this Dell has:

Better Display colors
better brightness
better viewing angle
better DC ratio

So will i notice any difference in quality? and if not, are there any other 24" (or bigger) with preferably (but not required) 1920x1200 resolution that i WILL be able see an upgrade in quality in that cost $500 or less.

Yes you will notice some difference in performance given by the viewing angle and the display colors, aside from the fact that the Dell is a IPS panel.

If you are really wanting to drop $500 on a single monitor, it is worth it indeed. Otherwise, I'd tell you to buy TWO (yes, two) 1080p monitors like this one and still save quite some money.
