i'm planning to sell my 1 year old i7 3770 and upgrade to i7 4790k together with a new mobo and rams. will the difference still be worth it cpu wise? i'm also planning to OC, but it's my first time.

The two extra core should help with what you're doing, but DDR4 prices are very high right now and an X99 board is also going to...

It's not worth upgrading that processor. It would be best to wait for Skylake and DDR4 before you spend a huge amount on a new processor, RAM and motherboard.

You could see a difference if you are doing certain things, but if you're just gaming, you won't see much of a difference.

cad (autodesk revit, graphisoft archicad), 3d rendering and modeling. and yeah, games too.

For CAD and some of the 3D rendering and modeling applications, you will see some performance upgrade (I doubt at this point it would be worth the investment). What GPU are you using for this build - a GPU upgrade could give you a significant performance boost.

aww. skylake is probably coming here in my country quite late. we're always late. lol. how about the i7 5820k?
