Hello in a couple of days i will be building a PC and just as I set my mind on the build that I was gonna buy this skylake thing popped up out of nowhere and now I am just confused about this skylake thing. And I would like to ask you guys would a i5 6600k, asus z170-a, Corsair 2x4gb 2400 mhz ddr4 ram and a gtx 970 g1 gaming perform better than a i5 4690k , msi z97 gaming 5, kingston hyperx savage 4x2gb 1600 mhz ddr3 ram and a gtx 970 g1 gaming.

Solution
Depending on which sites and which benchmarks you look at, Skylake is anywhere from 5% slower to 20% faster than Haswell.

If I had to pick between Haswell and Skylake to build a new PC in the very near future, the main deciding factor (after cost) would be whether I need Skylake's updated IOs or not.

Ideally though, I would wait for the Pentium, i3 and non-K i5/i7 to launch along with non-Z motherboards to see how prices will shake down first.

i was about to build the same rig for christmas... bt wont it be better to have an 6gen rather than an 4gen.. as the will be more futureproof... as the gaming wont matter much now.. bt in few years things may change....
