In microsoft windows there is an option to use a part of your hard disk as Ram. I have got 4 gigs of ddr3 ram and the recommended paging file size for my C drive is 6117 mb, so i have manually allocated 6117 mb of ram to the C drive on my system. Will this make my computer faster??

Hard Disk: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm

Solution
Virtual memory is much slower then actual memory as your hard drive is SIGNIFICANTLY slower.
If you are completley maxing out your memory then being able to offload to virtual memory will prevent you from completley locking up, but haivng more virutal memory wont make it faster by any stretch.

If you are only using 2-3 GB then dont worry about it, if you are maxing out memory then get another stick of memory. 4GB DDR3 should be $25-30
No. Adding physical Ram may make certain memory intensive programs faster, but increasing the page file will not increase speed at all it just makes more memory space available for programs. This prevents out of memory errors but the "memory" it is using is extremely slow (because its your hard drive).

This is the first thing that came out of google so I'll answer this with complete information.

Vitual Ram is a memory management technique that is implemented using both hardware and software, Meaning it helps RAM read faster using the memory from your hard drive and that's why its called vitual memory. It doesn't matter how fast or big your disk drive is, as long as its set to its recommended speed then its fast enough but if your a gamer and not an office worker then you can increase vitual ram min of 2500 too 10000 max or half.

This makes some games run faster that uses GPU like Fallout 4 and some other games because it reads faster.

Wow, thank you so much for a useless nonsensical reply to a 10 month old question that was already sufficiently answered. I am sure the original poster, 10 months later, will be back to read this and totally understand everything.

He won't be.

Do not answer old threads that have already been properly solved, especially if your answer doesn't even make sense. Thread closed.
