Good Morning,

I am looking to do a skylake build with the Asus Z170M-PLUS motherboard, which has an M.2 slot that I wont be using for storage, but I need wireless in my desktop as I will be working a few rooms away from my router. Will the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 work in that M.2 slot, or is it designed to cater for only storage? The specification page for the mobo did not really specify clearly if its only for storage or not.

The card supports both USB and PCIe and the motherboard PCIe, so it should work. Bluetooth might be only on the USB - I can't find a proper guide for it.

You'd need to make sure you got the M.2 2230 version, not the 1216, and get an adapter plate to fit the 2230 into the 2242/2260/2280 slot on your board.

You'd obviously need a pair of external WiFi antennas.
