Question Will intel have 11th gen x299 cpus?

I want to upgrade from the 7640x. From what I understand, the newest x299 cpus are the cascade lake x 10th gen i9s. For some strange reason, the x299 cpus get more expensive as they become older. Like the 10900x is $540 and the 9900x is $650+.

Does anybody know if intel will continue to make cpus for x299? I dont want to pay for the 10900x if there will 11th gen for x299. Somebody on reddit said they might make a whole new platform for HEDT? Does that mean x299 will be discontinued?

the newer X299 CPUs had more favorable 'cores per dollar' discounts, as Intel was increasingly competing with assorted 1900X. 2900X. 3900X/3950X, etc...; with the advent of 5900X, and the oncoming 5950X, any new Intel HEDT -based platform would be a hard sell... (presumably, few want to pay more for a more power hungry and not as fast CPU just to keep X299 than what a good X570 and new 5900X would cost combined...or so I'd speculate)

I'd think X299 to be on banana-peels, and would be surprised if anything else was released on it/for it.......

(As the 7640X was a resocketed 7600K, I'd think any 8700K-equivalent performing 10900X would at least bring it a few more years gaming life, as the 7640X was weak out of the box with but 4 threads...)

I wish they made a 10th gen i7 so I could atleast maybe afford it. The 9800x is looking pretty good though. I'm not sure why it's an i7 if it's almost identical to the 9900k.

Did they completely skip 8th gen?
