i have 2x4gb corsair lpx ram (ddr4) and which says its optimized for i5s and i7 at the back of it will it work with an r5 2600 or r7 1700?

Likely, yes; that is just marketing.
To be certain, go to the corsair web site and access their ram selection app.
Enter the make/model of your motherboard and you will get a list of supported ram kits.
Verify that your ram is on the list.

Another source is the motherboard ram QVL support list.

I do not see your particular ram supported on either the corsair or msi web site.
It would not hurt to try it.
Really though, why not buy a 2 x 8gb kit in the first place?

MSI shows the memory CMK8GX4M2D2400C14 as supported for the R7-1700. You might get away with your memory if you back-off the memory speed and relax some of the timings.

Personally, I'd suggest going with 16GB of memory. CMK16GX4M2A2400C16 is supported, and really isn't going to break the bank for you. ($39.00 @ Amazon)

i got the 2 sticks because i found them for £25 which is around $33 and the person offered to deliver them to me, i am also on a tight budget of $520 which i have already got most things and only need motherboard found one for $75 a cpu found r5 2600 or r7 1700 same price $140 and a gtx 1070 g1 gaming $255

i live in the uk aswell prices are a bit different 16 gb of ram here costs $110 for corsair lpx on amazon anyway thank you for your response its appreciated.

True, but do bear in mind that, since you are combining two sets of 2-DIMM pairs, you may run into issues with the two sets working together. Better to buy a set of 4.

I have made 2 matched sets work together, but it is an opportunity for problems to crop-up on you. Just be aware of it.
