Will it be worth upgrading from a 1090t to an Fx-6350?

So I play alot of games on my pc and I get quite a bit of fps drops in alot of games. A friend of mine has the exact same setup as me, and in sleeping dogs he gets a contant 60fps that rarely drops, and with mine I go from 60 to 25 frames when I step outside. I think that it's my X6 1090t that's causing my problems and I wondered if an FX 6350 would increase performance any? In any other games I'll drop from 60 to 30 or less in a heartbeat where my friend gets constant 60 on high settings 1080p. I got the cpu secondhand from a guy who shorted his system. Could this be the problem?

Specs:

PSU: Corsair CX500
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8gb DDR3
GPU: MSI Gaming GTX 760
CPU: Phenom II X6 1090t

Besides the fact your PSU seems quite a bit inadequate for your setup and is choking the 760. Try this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151088 the FX6350 is more of a sidegrade, the 8350 is more suited for an upgrade. Make sure your motherboard is supports Piledriver if you want to upgrade. Also, try overclocking, have a good heatsink like the Hyper 212 EVO to do such. I think it is the fact he was likely running the 1090T overclocked.

Hyper 212 EVO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&Tpk=Hyper%20212%20EVO&IsVirtualParent=1

My mobo is a GA-78LMT-S2P and it says it supports AM3+ which is what the 8350 is so would it work? I can't find anywhere on gigabytes website that shows specific piledriver support but it does show it will support the FX series. Are they talking bulldozer, or piledriver?

well the support list is not complete it seems as there is some piledriver 95watt cpus and bulldozer 125watts, so id say if it takes 125watt fx cpus get the highest bios update that isnt beta and get what u want lol

*Seems the only piledriver cpu on there the 95watt 8300 which is a OEM cpu is supported with beta bios so if u get a 8350 id go with the highest bios before the beta and see if it works if not throw ur 1090t in there and go with the beta ones.

A aftermarket cooler is nice to have but that board is not meant to overclock.

Also i think it matters on the revision or rev of the motherboard as it seems each has a different support or something
