Hi guys. Well, my prebuilt HP's CPU cooler up and died and I need a replacement. I'm not a pro at upgrading, having only upgraded a GFX card and PSU once. Its a mid ATX with dimensions 40 cm (H) x 17.78 cm (W, this being the "height" for cooler) x 43.18 cm (L). Here's the specs page for more detail: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-Elite-e9200-Desktop-PC-series/3999455/model/4041160/document/c01901297/

The cooler needs to be socket LGA 1366, 4 pin and 92mm (the 120mm are just too big). The old cooler was 135 mm (H) x 95 mm (W) x 93 mm (L). So, these are the coolers I've narrowed down to:

SilverStone Argon Series AR02: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220061

Enermax ETS-N30-HE Twister: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214054

Cooler Master Hyper D92: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103108

Rosewill RCX-ZAIO-92: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200056

I am totally sold on the Cooler Master but afraid it might not fit in the case. Measuring the inside from the moterboard to the side panel I would have 2-3mm to spare but irl I'm not so sure. I want a powerful cooler for peace of mind, oc capability and transferability to a new build a few years down the line so I want something around 50 CFM +/- 5 CFM. Do you think the Cooler Master will fit? If not, which of these other ones should I get and are they even any good? Feel free to suggest other coolers of similar size and power too. I'm Canadian so Canadian friendly vendors would be appreciated.

The cooler I have has the fan in the middle. I coudn't find too much specs on the fan except that it's 92mm, 12V, 0.41A. No idea what cfm I would need. It's some manufacturer part fan I can't find new: avc ds09225r12hp032.

I don't have a problem with buying a new cooler in the $30-50 range though. I definitely don't want to go improvised with zip ties.

So I assume you can't buy cpu specific fans separately? Can you help me out then with the original question? Will the Cool Master fit and if not, which cooler should I get? The cooler height is the only limitation, the cpu area is fairly clutter free and spacious.

What you are looking for are "92mm PWM-Controlled Fan "4pin" which are all case fans by BTW google that for the specific model you wish. I replace all the stock Cool Master fans with these since they last longer and are quieter.

ARCTIC F9 PWM Rev. 2 Fluid Dynamic Bearing Case Fan $7.5
43 CFM at 23.5 dBA

Avoid Masscool, Logisys fans of this size they seem to not last to long at least from my experience.

Higher CFM fans will be much more noiser, 50+ CFM will be 35-50 dBA.

So I''m making some progress searching for a fan instead of buying the whole cooler and have found a nice range of 92x25 4 pin fans. I have noticed some of those fans require more than the 0.4A my old cpu fan needed. Others are close at 0.38A. Should I get the ones closer to 0.4A? Also, is frozencpu a reliable vendor? Heres a list of what I have found by order of decreasing CFM.

My Cad system is running a I7 980X @ 4.4ghz and I have two of these fans in a Push Pull config using a Coolmaster TX3, the Temps are acceptable considering the piss poor air flow in the Desk the Case is enclosed in. I have used higher CFM fans but the noise was always annoying, these give me acceptable cooling and low noise. This system also never powers down and I have been using this config for 1 year now. 8000+ hours on a pair of $7 fans seemed pretty impressive to me I have paid 3X more for expensive fans that died or became noisy at around 6 months of constant use. Noise is a big factor to me, my office is small and load fans are hella annoying.
