Will a I7 8700k fit on a Asus ROG STRIX B250G Gaming motherboard? I read somewhere that it is compatible, but am not sure.

Not compatible. i7-8700k requires Z370 motherboard.

No. It's the wrong chipset to support the 8xxx series.

thanks i am running the B250H right now with a i7 7700k, and im just having temp problems with it,just looking for something different.

Then just get a better cpu cooler.

Does your PC workload really require upgrade from i7-7700k to i7-8700k?
I probably wouldn't make such upgrade considering cost/benefit ratio.

Processor is not actually influence by the motherboard.
The processor cooler and your PC case airflow play the bigger role.
