Ok so I want another Nvme ssd and can get a pcie 3.0x4 adapter and be content. I'm a PC noob so bare with me. But I'm always looking for more and upgradability.

Question i have is can a ryzen CPU and board run a Nvme adapter with multiple Nvme SSD. More for capacity than speed. I know that someone smarter and more savy probably would have done this already so my hopes are low

I have a Asus tuf b450 with a ryzen 2600 and Vega 64 and one on board nvme ssd.

Now if I got a pcie 3.0x16 Nvme adapter and ran it in the second pcie slot ( I think it would default to 3.0x8) would it work. I couldn't find anything that says this would work or not work. Ideally I would like to run the multiple Nvme ssd adapter along with the Vega 64. From what I found both the Vega and the Nvme adapter would be limited in bandwidth. But the Vega wouldn't really notice and the Nvme adapter would still be faster than a sata lll ssd.

Solution
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode)
should work, but about half the performance from 3.0 x4 ssd
