Will Kaby Lake PC boot if it run Windows 8.1?

I plan to upgrade my old PC to Kaby Lake and I will use my hard drive that already install Windows 8.1 from the old PC to the new system, is that OK? Anyone tried?

You will probably have to do a fresh OS install.
You may even need to purchase a whole new OS license.
