I recently used a M.2 SATA lll SSD and it disabled 2 SATA ports in my motherboard. I wondering if i switch to an NVME SSD, would it still disable 2 SATA ports.

Solution

Correct. SATA ports 5 & 6 would be disabled if you use M.2_1, no matter what type of drive.

"*3 When the M.2_1 Socket 3 is operating in SATA or PCIE mode, SATA6G_5/6 ports will be disabled.
*4 When the M.2_2 is occupied by M.2 device, PCIe x16_1 will run at x8 mode."

This is what is said on the manufacturers website, does this mean if I plug an NVME device into the second M.2 port it wont disable the SATA ports, but if I plug it into the first M.2 port it will?
