Hi everyone,

I have an Intel E2160 that I cannot overclock past 2.6

my mobo is an Asus p5k se. there are limited ram settings and no voltage setting for chipsets.

I have july 07 bios and there are some newer ones.

1) will newer bios open up more settings?

2) why does ez flash or online flash utility now show all available bios's like the website does?

[q]ower Savings for Environment-Friendly Computing
AI Gear2 allows users to choose profiles to adjust CPU frequency and vCore voltage to minimize system noise and power consumption. For example, users can change the mode in real-time in the operating system to max power saving mode and can save up to 50% power for the CPU when using word processing applications.[/q]

HI M_silkstone,

The only options I have are for memory and cpu, nothing for north and south bridges.

that is what i'm trying to get to, so that I can push my e2160 further.

No the P5K series doesn't have nothbridge voltage control. I tried all the bios's on my p5k-vm. No joy.
Stick your CPU voltage upto 1.5v (should be real volt 1.45-47 due to Vdroop).
I got my 2180 to past at 3.5ghz but running it at 2.25ghz stable. Northbridge voltage shouldn't effect the overclock too much, as the E2xxx series can't handle high FSB anyway. and your MB should be able to go well over 400mhz FSB without voltage adjustment.

BTW. You should probably keep you orig bios on. when i updated mine i had loads of probs, and couldn't run the memory as fast (i have to underclock the memory by 16mhz now) + You can't roll back the bioses

i have dd2 667 memory so i should not try to go to much past fsb 333, but highest has been at 296, * 9 multiplier 2.664, that was with 1.55v. the only thing i had trouble under standing was the boot strap thing and the settings for memory are not varied.
