10 years is the max i would use a psu.
Although that doesnt mean your psu is 100% uselles.
What config are you planning to run it with?

Yes. It's not like a lawn mower, the aging comes from things like capacitors, not the wearing down of moving parts. In fact, sitting unused for eight years is bad for capacitors.

Would you ask a doctor to install a pacemaker that was sitting around for eight years unused? If not, why are you doing that with your PC?

Definitely not worth the risk, hardware wears away over time even if it's not in use. especially PSUs

Remember, the Game Boy topped out at 0.7 watts. Alkaline AA batteries are only good for about 2.5 watt-hours. To power a GTX 750 Ti at load for an hour would require about 30 AA batteries.

A PSU has to provide stable power for a lot of Game Boys.

So your going to spend what about 7 or 8K on a PC and not spend 200 bucks more for a new power supply to help protect your investment?
