Will my 1680x1050 resolution monitor, which is a 16:10 ratio be good for gaming?

I use a monitor of the same res, you set the games resolution to 1680x1050 and it's fine. Sometimes for cutscences and stuff they'll be black bars along the top and bottom but usually not.

As long as you use 1680x1050 resolution you'll be fine. For games that do not support 1680x1050 but do support 1600x900 when you will get a black border.

It is fine for gaming. But today, 1920 × 1080 (hd) is more the norm now. If you are getting a new monitor, 1920 × 1080 would be the better choice.

My primary monitors are 16:10 aspect ratio; both are 1920x1200; and I don't get distorted graphics at all. Not sure if 1920x1080 monitors are considered "the norm", but they have come down in price over the years.

Also the higher the resolution the more powerful the graphics card must be if you want a certain minimum level of performance and graphics quality.
