Will my 8 year old motherboard's PCI-E slot bottleneck the maximum capacity of a modern high-end Video Card GPU?

However, I am wondering if I buy a modern high-end GPU like the GTX1080ti or the 1180. Will my old motherboard's PCI-E slot (by itself) slow down the maximum speed available that could be obtained by these cards.

For example, here are 2 motherboards:
1. My 8 year old motherboard's PCI-E slot
2. A modern X470 motherboard's PCI-E slot

Both motherboards can fit a GTX 1080ti video card in their slots. But I am wondering if the different generations of the motherboard's PCI-E slots will effect(bottleneck) the speed of the GTX1080ti and affect gameplay FPS.

Note: I am not asking if the other components(CPU/Memory) will bottleneck the GTX1080ti but rather ONLY the motherboard's PCI-E slot (by itself).

You will likely not notice a difference in the old motherboards pc I-e 2.0 slot.

Your old cpu will bottleneck the card long before the pci-e slot gets a chance too.
