Will my ASRock MB support a Ryzen 7

Will an ASRock - H170A-X1 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard support a Ryzen 7 1800x? I'm looking to upgrade and seeing what all I need to put an R7 in my terminal.

It won't support an AMD processor. Only 6th and 7th generation Intel processors.

Yes, as it supports 1800x, but no because it's just plain wrong. Imho, Ryzen 7 1800x needs a B350 or X370/470 mobo, otherwise it's just wasted potential of the CPU.

Technically the A320 chipsets should work with the ryzen 7 1800X. But the power delivery is so trash on the A320 motherboards (I wouldn't dare put anything beyond a 1500x in it) that you actually can risk bricking an 1800X if you pair it with one of the A320 mobos.

As said above B350 or X370 minimum.

Going to a Ryzen CPU, you're looking at building most/all of a new PC.

For a high end CPU like that you should get a X370 or even a X470. if you overclock get a good one, Taichi is one of my fav.
