will an asus P5LP-LE support any dual core, like a pentium dual core, Core 2 duo, etc? Here are some of the original specs from the oem.
P5LP-LE (Limestone 1.04)
Socket: 775
System bus 533 MHz and 800 MHz
Chipset Northbridge: Intel 945G
Southbridge: Intel I/O Controller Hub 7 82801GB 1CH7
Memory Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
Non-ECC memory only
Supports PC2 3200 (400 MHz) and PC2 4200 (533 MHz) and PC2 5300 (667 MHz) DDR2 DIMMs
Supports 1.8v DDR2 SDRAM
bios v3.09 2005
Currently i have a Pentium 4 630 3.0Ghz HT, 800Mhz, 2M L2
I kept searching and i googled "Intel 945G" and found http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/945g/index.htm. It looks good so far.
Although i looked, i cant find any chips on my MB that has "Intel 945G" on it. Any way of finding out for sure. And just because If do have the 945G chipset, does that specifically mean that the MB will support a Dual Core?
Will the bios need updating? other drivers?
will i have to stay with a 800Mhz dual core?
will windows xp recogize the switch or will this require a reinstall?
