i'm building a custom gaming pc and i think i've found some good parts, but i'm not sure if they will work together. the motherboard is a gigabyte 990fx gaming, my cpu is the amd fx-8350 8 core black edition, my video card is the amd radeon rx 480, my ram is two 8gb ripjaws V series sticks, and my case is the corsair spec 01, my power supply is a corsair rm 650x. if anyone has anything better i could use at a similar price point, that would be good, too. it's my first gaming pc and i want to get the best for my dollar. most of these were found on newegg.com

The AM3+ platform is very old, I don't recommend it for gaming. In any intensive application that prefers single core performance (which is most of them) you aren't going to want an FX CPU. So my recommendation is to go with Intel Skylake right now, or wait for AMD Zen next year. Here's a build:
